January 21, 2009

Brian and I went to an amazing Kurt Elling concert tonight at the Lincoln Center Allen Room and this was the view behind the singer/orchestra. Nothing like a New York jazz club in Columbus Circle! As a note of interest, this is also where Brian proposed back in 2006. What a great date night!

I know this isn't the best shot, but it sure was the best part of my day!

Nothing better than sleeping in on a holiday and having my husband cook pancakes for brunch. Yum!

This was the view up our street as we walked to church this morning. So beautiful!

After a quiet day at home, Brian and I played a rousing game of Carcasonne. It's a really fun game that's great for just 2 players but can play up to 5 - it's hard to find those kind of games!

Today was an exercise day. However, it was also about 3 degrees. So! Jillian Michaels and I had an exercise date in front of my TV in the comfort of my home. How I love modern conveniences.

Went to Times Square for a send-off for an old co-worker. Made myself look like a tourist just for the purposes of this blog. Feel special!

This is the view out of my office window - the sky was a beautiful blue today, but it was REALLY cold out!

Dinner tonight was delicious! Pork with a whole-cranberry and mustard sauce. Yum-yum. This kind of eating will make losing those last few pounds easy!

In New York City, you don't grocery shop, you grocery order. Then some nice people bring it to you, you unpack it and voila! No carrying heavy bags in the cold for blocks! Great produce selection! 8.5 pound boneless pork shoulders! Ok... so we only needed 1 pound of shoulder. Any good ideas for the leftovers?

Brian and I started the day with coffee made with his very "leaning-tower-of-Pisa"-esque french press. Also, in all fairness, he was today's guest photographer.

Today was a bleak and snowy day in the City. But there's always beauty to be found in freshly fallen snow.

Went to the market today after work and thought these looked good enough to eat -or at least photograph.

Sometimes I almost forget I live and work in New York City, but then I walk outside after work and the beauty of the City almost overwhelms me.

The view I see for most of my hours - my office computer.

Welcome back to work post-holiday. Another day, another subway ride. I actually don't mind my commute, because it gives me time to read in the mornings and evenings.

Looking out the window on my way up the escalator to see a movie with my friend Bianca. Wish I had focused on the ticket instead of the stuff behind, but I'm still learning! Also, looking at the picture made me realize that there are lots of things I've never noticed even though I must have looked out that window dozens of times (for example, those squares above the Cosi awning).

A teddy bear is a girl's best friend and her husband's mortal enemy. This particular teddy bear has been with me since I was in the 7th grade!

I realize I'm short one day, but I didn't decide to do the project until January 2! So, I'll owe you guys one picture Jan 1, 2010. :) This is a photo I took while flying back to New York from a fantastic Christmas vacation spent with our families in both Virginia and Texas.
